Real Estate Dreams

As many of my blog readers know, I have been working in real estate for the past few years. Real estate in NYC is a whole other world here. You are dealing with sky high budgets of the 1% of America. It only makes me question-where is the recession? I know it's affecting new York, but when you read the big sales of the day it's hard to believe.  Especially hard, when you come across things like this-

This 7,000 SF apt in landmark Clock Tower Building in Brooklyn, N.Y. is one of the most expensive properties with an asking price of 23.5 million!

We all dream of having our little piece of the big apple, and while I show apartments I always try to find my little piece. Will I be able to afford one of these one day? And If you know someone who can right now and is looking to buy...send them my way!!

Stop the Virgens

Living in New York, I feel as if I have the responsibility to know what the hot new things to do in New York are.  I need to say I’ve been to the new hot restaurant in LES or I saw Sleep No More when it first came to New York,  and that I saw the Alexander McQueen exhibit when it was at the MET.  Well, I have another thing to add to the list---Stop The Virgens.  Yes-STOP THE VIRGENS! This is the new psycho opera by Karen O (lead singer of the YEAH YEAH YEAHS) and KK Barrett (production designer for ‘where the wild things are’, ‘adaptation’, ‘being john malkovich’-aka-everything weird and wonderful).

My roommate is in the show, so she was able to snag me an oh-so-impossible-ticket to the show last Friday.  I walked into St Ann’s Warehouse on a Friday night wearing my very cute mini black DVF skirt and my silk red top with some sensible red lips and some black combat boots.  Coming from Manhattan I felt very hip until…. I saw the crowd.  By looking around I knew I wasn’t as hip as I thought I was.  People in Brooklyn breathe, eat, and sleep HIP.

The show was a lot to take in. It’s a cast of about 40 women who start out in white wigs and very little to nothing white/nude coverings.  By the end, they are covered in blood. However, it is the journey from white to blood that is the most interesting.  Karen O acts as the mother hen and gives a mesmerizing performance showing off her talented writing and singing chops.  I wouldn’t call this the typical theatre or even the typical experimental theatre, but I would call it one of the best concerts and performance theatre I have seen in a while.  Come with an open mind and be ready to be blown away.

If you get a chance, put on your “hipster clothes” and head over to St. Ann’s Warehouse for 2 more performances. OCTOBER 21and 22!
